Who I Am

I am Ahmet Polat, I love computer science, languages, tabletop games and jazz. I graduated from Computer Science B. Sc. at RWTH Aachen University. I like researching, building and sharing with others.

Bachelor's Thesis

I really enjoyed writing my bachelor's thesis such that I actually reserved a whole semester for it so that I can actually enjoy the whole experience. The title of my thesis is 'Personal Health Train: An Assessment of Automated Pipelines' Contribution to Infrastructure’s Privacy & Security'. A shortened and altered version of it will be published, yet, you can read the full version in the meantime via the link below.

I am the tech lead of a seed stage startup that has the goal to become a platform where patients from all around the world can book medical operations in Turkey with transparent prices, thus creating a real competition to the current market. The website is currently in beta.

Nisaba

A SaaS with the target group as the organizations that help certain communities for the improvement of their life communities, i.e. development collaboration (aid). It is open source. I am the (honorary) tech lead and also develop the 'Admin-App'. Nisaba is currently used by 3 different organizations in Ruanda, Malawi and Bolivia.

Research

I wrote two research papers throughout my studies at RWTH Aachen University (Computer Science B. Sc.). They have the titles "A Review on Music Structure Analysis Methods Concerning Music Genres" and "Egocentric Exploratory Interfaces and Dynamic Network Visualization". Read them in the link below.

Dynamic Graph Exploration

A Web tool for exploring the Web dynamically and immersively. It is open source. If you want to try this and you are on phone, you will need VR glasses with one button (for example Google Cardboard).

Mail Microservice

I developed a microservice integrable to any message broker (e.g. RabbitMQ or Redis Pub/Sub) that sends localized and templated emails. It is written in NestJs and is open source.

Working Experience

August 2021 - November 2022

I worked at m3connect as a "working student". I was in the software team and we developed back-end, devops and highly generic client-side solutions on an agile basis.

October 2021 - March 2022

I worked with HoloBuilder for the university Software-Projektpraktikum lab scheme. Our task was to develop a 2-D visualization of a dataset that was meant for 3-D.

April 2020 - April 2021

I worked in the psychiatry clinic as a general-purpose IT person. I did mainly web development and data processing. My work also involved reading & understanding and acting on some papers on the field.
